Regensburg study helps to determine all risks for online shop operators

As a shop owner, you are of course exposed to different risks every day.

ibi Research from Regensburg has published only one study that can show all common risks together. It was then processed in a so-called risk map. This makes it easier for shop operators to keep track of and analyze where they are located.

The results were determined and evaluated together with an insurer in the industry.

However, the facts are clearly presented and everyone can decide for themselves which risks they want to ignore, control or insure.

Here is an excerpt from the included interview with Mr. Frederik Wulf (responsible for the insurer):

  1. What are the most common risks faced by online retailers? In the online sector, Mr. Wulff mentions above all: trademarks, authors, name and competition law. Damage caused by hackers and general violations of data protection can quickly threaten the existence of online retailers, especially against the background of loss of reputation. Finally, there are the IT risks. When IT is developed or operated, damage can be caused and this is also unavoidable for online retailers due to the nature of the business.
  2. Which risks are most underestimated by online retailers? Damages resulting from infringement of intellectual property and cyber damage are mentioned.

What can shopkeepers do?

In addition to the possibility of insuring yourself against certain risks, you can also use the services of third-party providers such as Protected Shops, Veristore or Trusted Shops .

In any case, the above-mentioned Riskmap is a good tool for identifying and assessing your own risks, but it will probably never be possible to do without business risk.
